February 22, 2016

Toronto – A team of students from Baruch College in New York City won the 13th annual Rotman International Trading Competition (RITC), which wrapped up on Saturday.

The team, drawn from students in the College’s Master of Science in Financial Engineering program, prevailed in the competition defeating teams which represented 52 different universities from around the world.

The Competition took place in the BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and utilized the  Rotman Interactive Trader, an order-driven market simulator, which was developed in-house. Over a two and a half day period teams participated in various activities including electronic and outcry trading cases, seminars with industry practitioners, and social events with their fellow competitors.

A team from LUISS University in Italy narrowly missed winning the competition for the third consecutive year placing second, while a team from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary finished third.

Individual prizes were also awarded for the winning teams of individual trading rounds.
