Tess Cecil-Cockwell is the recipient of the full tuition scholarship which was awarded based on a combination of her outstanding marks from her undergraduate degree, GMAT test score, and professional references as well as an equally outstanding performance in their interview during the application process to the program.

Cecil-Cockwell is a graduate of Princeton University with a bachelor of science in engineering. With eight years of working in the petroleum industry, she most recently worked as a petroleum engineer with Conoco Philips Alaska in Anchorage where she managed the operation of 75 wells in the Kuparuk Field. She started her career with Schlumberger Drilling & Measurements where she was the company’s first female directional driller on Alaskan oil rigs.

The merit-based scholarship is named in honour of the School's visionary benefactor Joseph Rotman, who passed away in January 2015.  "Joe was committed to excellence in education and to developing exceptional future business and societal leaders. This scholarship will be awarded each year in his honour," says Dean Tiff Macklem.

Together with his wife Sandra, the Rotman family is among the most generous donors in the University’s history. Most recently, they gave $30 million to the School in April which established the Rotman Catalyst Fund which will act as a “venture fund” for the Rotman School, used to fund bold and innovative initiatives to continue to transform management education and to increase the impact of the School’s students and new thinking.

The Rotman School of Management is located in the heart of Canada’s commercial and cultural capital and is part of the University of Toronto, one of the world’s top 20 research universities. The Rotman School fosters a new way to think that enables our graduates to tackle today’s global business and societal challenges.  For more information, visit www.rotman.utoronto.ca.
