Toronto – Two teams from the Master of Financial Risk Management (MFRM) program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management tied for first in the Toronto regional final of the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge to advance to the international final of the challenge.
The Professional Risk Managers' International Association Risk Management Challenge (PRMIA) is an annual international competition for students from multiple disciplines to use their critical and creative thinking skills to solve realistic business problems with a risk management focus.
Team SWEAR with members Windy Weng, Armand Suwanda, Samuel Appasamy, and Eliot Lin and Team MFRM of Legendary with members Emma Diao, Ray Zhao, Shirley Fan, and John Guo advance to the final. Three other teams from the Rotman MFRM program also participated in the regional final
In the international final to be held in Montreal on March 29, the Rotman MFRM teams will compete against the winners of regional finals from Chicago, Edmonton, Hungary, Ireland, Egypt, London, Montreal, Netherlands, New York, Paris, Poland, Russia, and Vancouver.
An intensive program for recent graduates with solid quantitative skills from undergraduate university programs, the Rotman MFRM is designed to prepare students for careers in risk management. The unique curriculum combines coursework, an applied project with a company in the field, workshops on leadership and communications skills as well as a speaker series featuring practitioners.
