International student traders compete at the Rotman School

Toronto , February 15, 2010 – Finance students from around the world will gather at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto for a unique three day trading competition. The 8th annual Rotman International Trading Competition (RITC) takes place in the Rotman Financial Research and Trading Lab from February 17 to 19. This year’s competition features 50 teams from universities all over the world including China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), University of Queensland (Australia), University of Chicago, Wharton School of Business and last year’s winners MIT.

RITC utilizes simulated trading cases that closely mimic different aspects of real world markets. Having developed these cases in the Financial Research and Trading Lab, the RITC promises to present teams with challenges that are pertinent to current market trends.

Media are invited to the opening outcry trading session and reception, which will be held at the Rotman School on Thursday, February 17 at 7:00 pm.

BP Canada Energy Company is the sponsor of the BP Commodities Trading Case this year. In addition, Alpha Group is supporting the Alpha ATS: Sales & Trader Case, CIBC World Markets is the sponsor of the CIBC Algorithmic High Frequency Trading Case and Thomson Reuters is the sponsor of the Quantitative and Event Driven (QED) Case.
