New Director Appointed at Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity and UofT’s Martin Prosperity Institute.

September 6, 2012 Toronto – A new executive director, Jamison Steeve, has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Martin Prosperity Institute (MPI) at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity (ICP).  He succeeds James Milway who left earlier this summer.

The MPI is world's leading think-tank on the role of sub-national factors - location, place and city-regions - in global economic prosperity and the ICP serves as the research arm of the Ontario Government’s Task Force on Competitiveness, Productivity and Economic Progress.

The appointment was announced last night by Roger Martin, Dean of the Rotman School, who is also the chair of the Task Force on Competitiveness, Productivity and Economic Progress, at the official opening of the Rotman School's expansion, which includes new office space for the MPI.

"Jamison is an extraordinarily gifted person who will lead the Martin Prosperity Institute and the Institute for Competitiveness & Prosperity to even greater success.  He brings a background of accomplishments in the public policy arena and will shape the agenda for research and policy advice in prosperity, innovation, and creativity," said Martin.

Steeve joins the Institutes following a successful career in Ontario public policy serving as advisor to provincial cabinet Ministers and most recently as Principal Secretary in the Office of the Premier. In this most recent position, he helped create and shape the policy and legislative agenda for the provincial government, including playing a key role in the development and writing of Throne Speeches, Provincial Budgets, and Economic Updates. Before entering the public policy arena, he practiced law with a leading Canadian firm. He is a graduate of Queen's University and Dalhousie University.
