Rotman Master of Finance program overview

In 2017, the program proudly celebrated 10 years of delivering specialized finance knowledge that has helped numerous graduates advance their careers in this field. As we look forward, it is clear that the sector is evolving and Rotman’s MFin program is responding with exciting curriculum changes that will ensure graduates continue to excel in this new financial landscape.

The Rotman Master of Finance program

The Rotman Master of Finance is established as one of the leading finance programs in the country, with faculty recognized as world-class thought leaders in the field, and an alumni network with deep roots in the Toronto financial sector.

Much has changed since our MFin program launched. The recent development of machine learning, big data, and blockchain technology have created exciting new opportunities for financial markets and for professionals working in the field.

To ensure our graduates are equipped to capitalize on these new developments, updates were made to our program for classes starting after September 2018. Updates include:

  • Coursework can now be completed in 16 months, with the final four-month term dedicated to an independent Capstone project.
  • A new course, Innovation in Finance, which will include FinTech topics.

You can learn more about the Rotman Master of Finance program structure on our website or by attending one of our upcoming events.

Mobile payment

Our new course, Innovation in Finance, will consider how developments in areas such as payments, regulatory oversight,  and lending and borrowing are helping to make financial services more efficient while potentially opening up new sources of risk.

Financial Innovation Hub

Rotman's new FinHub provides an environment in which students, the financial industry, startup entrepreneurs, and faculty interact to develop the expertise that enables ongoing innovation in the financial sector.
