Why did you decide to study the GDipPA program?

I greatly enjoyed studying at Rotman Commerce as an undergraduate student. The professors were always friendly, informative, and welcoming. I knew I could expect a similar experience from the GDipPA program at Rotman. And I’m happy to say the program did not disappoint.

What was your main reason for choosing Rotman?

A great undergraduate experience at Rotman and Rotman’s excellent reputation.

What was the highlight of the Rotman experience?

High quality teaching and interactive classrooms.

Did completing the program over the summer before you started work help with your new job?

Completing the program over the summer did help with my new job.

The program helps you become more familiar with audit and accounting standards, which I was able to apply once I started working.

Additionally, it makes you more comfortable with using the CPA Handbook which was also extremely helpful when dealing with standards I was not as familiar with at work.

Did Rotman and the GDipPA program meet your expectations?

Yes, Rotman and the GdipPA program did meet my expectations. By the time I was finished the program, I felt prepared to write CPA’s Common Final Examination (CFE). I was much more comfortable with case writing, including planning and approaching various issues that could come up on the CFE.

What would you say to someone considering choosing the GDipPA?

The program is a great way to get a head start on obtaining your CPA. It does require a large time commitment during the summer. However, I would recommend it. The program is perfect for students who prefer learning in a classroom setting. Additionally, not only do you get a chance to improve your case writing skills, but you also get a chance to meet fellow students from all over Canada. The program provides lots of support and it was a great summer experience.

The Rotman Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting is an excellent way for you to gain advanced standing in the pursuit of a CPA. The 12-week program helps prepare you for the Common Final Examination (CFE) and allows you to advance straight to the Capstone 1 module in the CPA PEP.
