Why did you decide to study the Master of Management Analytics program?
In deciding my next steps to my education and career path, I was reminded of how keenly I wanted to play an executive analytics role at one of the government ministries or agencies related to the education system. Education is important, as the process of improving it is just as valuable as the ultimate outcome. Everybody learns differently, and it is important to figure out which strategies work best in targeting each learner in order to improve their knowledge. I believe it would be interesting to examine which parts of the traditional model of education work and which do not, and compare them with recent developments in education in order to create a blend that could support each learner. It would be especially crucial to continue to try and improve the education system at every department and level. Given that data and analytics is abound in today’s world, I viewed the completion of the MMA program as a perfect vehicle that would accelerate my journey towards that goal.
What are your top reasons for choosing Rotman?
Rotman is located in Toronto, the largest technology and financial centre in Canada. As such, it provides ample opportunities to explore and engage with a wide array of industries, helping one better understand and pursue their ultimate career of choice. Further to this point, Rotman leverages its strong industry network to bring forward events and program projects which ultimately give students the experiences needed for success. The practicum project in combination with coursework reinforces what is taught in class and gives students hands-on experience to reinforce their learning. Moreover, in order to succeed in the management analytics industry, Rotman aims to provide not only the technical expertise but also the complimentary business acumen needed for a successful career. I believe when putting everything together along with many more reasons, Rotman was a clear choice for me.
What are you looking forward to most in the program?
Currently most of all, I look forward to being involved in the practicum project in developing and providing solutions to real-world managerial questions. Although projects have just begun to be underway, the ability to apply in-class knowledge provides an element of experience that cannot be simply learned in class and this I believe will help many MMA candidates thrive in their post-degree career.
