Exciting and intense classes

August was a great start of the MMA program. However, I got to see the real side of the program in September. Although the intro term was short, it was really helpful for me to have a grasp on what comes in the fall term. Shortly after having our exams for Data-Based Management Decision and Analytics and Management classes, the fall term began. We have 5 very exciting classes for this term. Although the start of the semester is intense, I am looking forward to learning more about each topic.

One of the greatest aspects of the fall term is the class hours. Our class hours are mostly between 12:30-6:30pm. As a night owl, the fall term schedule is perfect for me. Also, for each of our classes, we have group projects and assignments that require regular meetings. With the current schedule, we mostly schedule the meetings right before class, and no one is sleep deprived.

Rotman clubs

Apart from getting introduced to the new classes, September was also the month that we were introduced to the Rotman clubs as MMA students. On club fair day, we had the chance to get to know the different clubs at Rotman. I was amazed by the range of the clubs. I visited many of the booths and tried to get to know what are the events that each club has. Most of them have case competitions and alumni events scheduled throughout the year. I think being part of the Rotman clubs is a great way to have a true Rotman experience, build connections and get to know other Rotman students outside of the MMA class.

The Practicum Project

The last highlight of September was the Practicum Project. The MMA program offers us the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in the analytics field throughout the program. I was really excited to start my project since the very beginning of the program. I am involved in the project for TD Bank Group. Every Friday, as a group of 4, we go to TD Bank to work on our project in the Business Analytics department. Apart from TD Bank Group, there are 14 different projects included in the Practicum Project, and all sound so exciting to work on. We got to know the other projects on the practicum project showcase where Practicum Project Partners briefly presented their projects to other MMA students. I think Practicum Project will stay as the highlight of my MMA experience throughout the program, but I am also excited to see what comes next in the following months.

The Master of Management Analytics is designed to give students the advanced data management, analytics and communication skills needed to become an analytics professional.
