Lee-Chin Institute and Purpose Capital Announce Impact Investing Inventory

Responsible Investment Week in Canada (October 17-21, 2016)

Impact Investing Products in Canada

In 2015, the Michael Lee-Chin Family Institute for Corporate Citizenship (LCI) conducted a survey on the growing range of impact investment products in Canada. The LCI found a fast-evolving market and increasing interest from institutional, accredited and retail investors (see the brief public report, published by RBC).

This year, working with Purpose Capital (a leading Canadian impact investment advisory firm), the LCI is updating this information and creating a new resource for investors scheduled to go public in January 2017.

A preview of their work was published in the Responsible Investment Association’s 2016 Canadian Impact Investment Trends Report, released on October 17 at the RIA Foundation and Endowment Forum 2016: Investing for Impact.  Their listing of impact investing products is based on existing market intelligence and a product survey, still in progress.

About Us

The Michael Lee-Chin Family Institute for Corporate Citizenship (LCI) is a research centre at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. We develop and share knowledge about sustainability strategies for business leaders. Currently, LCI research focuses on three themes: sustainability strategy, social entrepreneurship and social finance.

Purpose Capital (PC) is an impact investment advisory firm that mobilizes all forms of capital — financial, intellectual and social — to accelerate social change. PC works with investors and their advisors to design and deploy customized impact investment strategies spanning sectors, asset classes, and regulatory regimes. PC also work with governments, businesses, entrepreneurs and sector-leading organizations to develop new products, platforms and markets for compelling financial returns and measurable social impact.
