SESSION SUMMARY: There is a lot of hype around big data and data analytics but many leaders lack a thorough understanding of what data can do and how to put it to work for their organization. In this session, Professor Mara Lederman will demystify some of the most common uses and applications of data. She’ll introduce participants to the three broad ways that organizations can use data - descriptive analysis, predictive analysis, and prescriptive analysis. Through discussion and case examples, she'll introduce you to the objectives and limitations of each type and help you get you started on the path toward leveraging the data assets of your organization.

BIOGRAPHY: Mara joined the faculty of the Rotman School of Management in 2003 after completing her PhD in Economics at MIT.
