Overview

Rotman's Board Human Resources Committee Program is designed specifically for directors and senior HR executives. It provides insight into the role of the Board Human Resources Committee and its critical importance to the organization. The program examines the Committee's strategic priorities, planning activities, governance mandates and its ability to create organizational value. Program participants learn best practices and the importance of aligning an organization's human resources, processes and culture to its business strategy and performance.

Teaching Methodology

Experienced program instructors provide a framework for discussion and facilitate group interaction, integrating governance and human resources on that basis. Lectures, discussions, panels, group work, presentations, case studies and board room simulations add to the program experience and there is always opportunity for informal discussion, reflection and networking with fellow participants.

This program is beneficial for HR Executives to attend with the Chair of their organization's Board HR Committee.

Boards often spend too much of their time evaluating the past and too little time planning for the future.  Critical to the future success of any organization are issues such as talent management and succession planning.  Effective human resource policies and practices are key to an organization’s ability to create value and deliver strategic priorities.  Board directors need to better understand these issues and appreciate how they can contribute and add value to the boards they sit on.

Schedule

This program will be held at the Rotman School of Management from November 15–17, 2016. Program days begin with breakfast between 7:00am and 8:00am. Sessions typically start at 8:00am and end at 5:00pm.

Each application is reviewed by Rotman’s admissions committee to ensure participants have the appropriate academic and work experience.  Applicants do not require a university degree.

Participant Notification Process

If space is available and eligibility requirements are met, participants will receive a notice of admission within 10 days of receipt of a completed application and fee deposit.

Payment

A deposit of 50% of the program fee is required at time of application. The balance of the program fee is due 30 days after receipt of invoice or 30 days before the start of the program, whichever is first.  Payments can be made online. Applicants will be redirected to a secure online payment website after completion of the application form. Deposits will be refunded to applicants not accepted to the program.

Fee Reduction

Rotman Executive Program graduates or Rotman MBA / EMBA alumni are eligible for a discount equivalent to 10% of the program tuition. In addition, partner discounts are also offered for some programs. Where program applicants are eligible for more than one discount, only the greater discount will be applied towards the tuition fee. Discounts are not redeemable for cash.

*Participants will be responsible for their own travel, accommodation and incidental costs. Participants requiring accommodation during the program are eligible for preferred Rotman rates at select hotels.
