Overview

The Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (TC LHIN), in collaboration with the Rotman School of Management, is offering the Toronto Central LHIN - Mentoring Program. 

This program is designed to enhance the participants’ leadership, innovative thinking, change management, communication, and negotiation skills that will foster new approaches to leadership.  The participants will be able to capitalize on their newly learned knowledge, skills and capabilities and augment their capacity to influence and contribute to change in pursuit of the transformational agenda within their organization and the community sector. Furthermore, for the organizations involved, the mentoring partnership will positively contribute towards enhanced levels of collaboration within, as well as outside, the organization thus benefiting the community sector and the individuals to be served by these providers.

 

The mentoring information session is on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 11:00am–12:30pm                     

Location: TCLHIN offices, 425 Bloor Street, Parliament Room, 3rd floor, Toronto, Ontario, M4W3R4

Program Details

During the program, the mentees will be paired with mentors to gain exposure to new ideas; broaden their professional network; enlist professional support and encouragement; enhance personal effectiveness through informal feedback; improve their understanding of how the healthcare system works; gain new skills and the opportunity to practice them in a structured setting; and, solidify career goals.

Program Features

  • 15 mentoring partnerships
  • Prospective mentees attend information session, complete application and receive interview
  • Matching mentors and mentees is based on considering mentors strengths and insights.
  • Participants receive training, tool book on mentoring, professional development, networking forums and ongoing support during the program

Schedule

The program will be offered over 11 months in Toronto, Ontario with program introduction and orientation in January 2015. Participants will be required to commit to regular one-on-one meetings with their mentors as well as attending learning forums with other mentors and mentees in the program. The participants will also meet with the program advisor/facilitator for coaching sessions to ensure they are maximizing their mentoring relationship.

Application Process:

Please note that during the application process you will be required to submit three documents:

1) Your resume

2) A reference letter

The letter should be detailed and specific with respect to why they believe you will benefit from the mentoring program and what makes you an effective mentee candidate.

3) Mentee Profile Form

The mentee profile form can be downloaded from the link below. Please complete and submit the profile with the online application.  All information provided on this form will be read in confidence by the mentoring team and used only to assist in the matching process of mentors and mentee candidates.
