Bio

Bret is a sessional lecturer at the Rotman School of Management, Centre of Industrial Relations & Human Resources, and Woodsworth College all at University of Toronto. In addition, Bret is pursuing his Doctorate of Business Administration through the Henley School of Business, University of Reading. Bret’s doctoral research focuses on executive incentive frameworks in dual class share structure firms. While pursuing his Doctorate Bret also provides strategic compensation advice to organizations in both the publicly traded and health care field.

Previously, Bret was the Vice President, Human Resources for Rogers Communications Inc. based in Toronto and responsible for leading Human Resources for the 26,000 employees across Canada. Prior to joining Rogers, Bret held progressive domestic and international leadership roles with Suncor Energy, Manulife Financial and Bell Canada, including living and working in Halifax, Calgary, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

Bret has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Toronto; a certificate in Industrial Relations from Queen’s University and is a Senior Human Resources Professional. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Dalhousie University where he won the Malcolm Honour award for outstanding contribution to student life. More recently Bret has completed the Advanced Human Resources Executive Program, University of Michigan and the Advanced Management Program, Harvard University (AMP 174).

Outside of work, Bret is an aspiring skater, and member of the board of directors of the Children’s Aid Foundation. Most importantly, Bret is a proud father to Grace and husband to Cindy.
