Bio

Mrs. Kaufman is the Chair of the Institute of Corporate Directors.

A former broadcaster, Donna had an active career in business when she became the Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Selkirk Communications.

Since then, she has sat on the boards of some of Canada’s most prestigious corporations, including BCE (where she chaired the Strategic Oversight Committee), Southam Inc., the Hudson’s Bay Company, Provigo, and TransAlta Corporation, where she is the immediate past Chair of the Board.  She was a member of the Board of UPM-Kymmene Corporation, a leading forest products company based in Helsinki, Finland.

On the not-for-profit side, she was a governor of the International Development Research Centre, a director of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, of the Historica-Dominion Institute, the CRB Foundation, Baycrest, and the Sir Mortimer B. Davis – Jewish General Hospital Foundation in Montreal.  She was also a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on the Public Service, and of the Canadian Advisory Board of Catalyst.

She is a former partner of Stikeman Elliott, where she practised anti-trust law. 

Donna was named a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2001.
