In early 2010, three of the top 10 most valuable companies in the world- Apple, Google, and Microsoft- made their primary business in technology.  Meanwhile, the other giants on that list relied on investments in technology to create and maintain their positions of dominance.

Who We Are

The Rotman Business Technology Group (BTG) brings together future business leaders with an interest in innovation and technology.  Members seek to understand not only how technology companies compete, but how technology makes companies competitive.  Through club events, Rotman students, staff, and faculty are able to maintain a vibrant connection with the industry and with alumni.  Highly engaged and adaptive, the Business Technology Group provides members with the resources and opportunities needed to advance their professional goals and increase their knowledge of how to turn technology into a competitive advantage.

Our Mission

• Increase awareness of technology-related career paths available to MBAs in the business world, both in the technology industry and beyond
• Integrate course learnings with developments in technology, offering insights about the role of technology and innovation in business
• Build closer relationships between the Rotman community and firms in the technology industry by providing venues for networking opportunities
• Raise awareness of the innovative, technology-savvy talent pool available at Rotman

History

The Business Technology Group was founded in 2002 to unite Rotman MBA students with an interest in technology. Since then, the club has hosted a variety of successful events, including Rotman Speaker Series events headlined by executives and upper management from major technology companies, networking sessions encouraging interaction between the Rotman community and industry professionals, and numerous resume and skill development sessions for students. The BTG is currently one of the fastest growing clubs at Rotman.
