INTERNATIONAL STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

Study Tours
Exchange Program

Rotman students are exposed to a global perspective of management and choose from a range of elective courses dealing with international management. In second year, students have the opportunity to participate in exchange programs for one full term. In Summer 2008, Fall 2008 and Spring 2009, 29 second- and third-year students participated in exchanges at 17 leading universities worldwide, studying everywhere from Switzerland to Singapore.

Study Tours

The Rotman International Study Tours are designed to provide students with the opportunity to understand the opportunities and risks associated with the emergence
of important markets in the world economy. In 2009– 2010, Rotman is offering three international study tours to China, India and the Middle East. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in pre-tour classes, in-country site visits as well as cultural and tourist activities.

China Study Tour
The China Study Tour has been designed to provide a framework with which to understand the opportunities and risks associated with the emergence of a major new market in the world economy: China. The 2009 trip will likely include stopovers in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing with visit to Dongguan still on the horizon. Through a variety of site visits, students will be able to learn firsthand what it is like to do business in the major cities. Participants will also engage in cultural, tourist and networking activities which will serve to enhance their knowledge of the country and expand their international career opportunities. As most international corporations will inevitably have a China strategy (market entry, partnerships, joint ventures, outsourcing, etc.), the China Study Tour will be an invaluable experience to prepare all MBA students for the job market.

India Study Tour
The India Study Tour has been designed to provide a framework with which to understand the opportunities and risks associated with the emergence of this major new market in the world economy: India. The trip is set to include stopovers in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and possibly Goa where students will learn firsthand what it is like to do business in the major cities. Participants will have the opportunity to partake in cultural and tourist activities as well. Site visits to Indian, Canadian and International companies in addition to an NGO visit all serve to provide students with a well-rounded overview of all that India has to offer today.

The Middle East Study Tour
The Middle East Study Tour has been designed to provide a framework with which to understand the opportunities and risks associated with the emergence of a major new market in the world economy: Middle East. The trip is set to include stopovers in Dubai and Istanbul. Through a variety of site visits, students will be able to learn firsthand what it is like to do business in these major cities. Participants will also engage in cultural, tourist and networking activities which will serve to enhance their knowledge of the region and expand their international career opportunities.

We are currently exploring other study tour options such as Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.
