At the Rotman School, you will find yourself challenged and motivated to excel by the high calibre of your classmates — peers who will provide a lifetime network of friends and business contacts. The Rotman School deliberately seeks out students who have done interesting things with their personal, academic and professional lives.
Our students have excelled at school and work, travelled, and sought out experiences that make for an incredibly dynamic class. These are people with a winning track record and a story to tell, who will enrich your learning in endless ways. “There is a strong feeling of camaraderie among my peers, a sense of ‘we're all in this together’ that makes it much easier to cope when the workload seems insurmountable,” writes full-time MBA student Stephanie Erb ’12 in her Bloomberg BusinessWeek blog. “Another valuable support system I didn't anticipate has been the second-year MBA students…. They are walking, talking motivational posters: living proof that we can do it, too.”
Student Clubs
The student-elected Graduate Business Council is an umbrella organization for all student groups and clubs. Students can network informally and blow off some steam by joining the Rotman Wine Society or the Ultimate Frisbee Club; meet others who share their professional
interests by joining the Health Care and Biotechnology or Marketing Associations; or get involved with the School's Net Impact Chapter to help stage the annual Non-Profit Career Fair.
The social aspects of the Rotman MBA are an integral part
of the program: whatever your interests, there’s something for you: for a list of active clubs and more on the Graduate Business Council , visit www.rotman.utoronto.ca/studentlife
Rotman Ambassadors
These first and second-year MBA students are available to provide insight and assistance to prospective and newly-admitted students to make their decisions more informed and their transition to the MBA lifestyle more seamless. Click here to meet the 2011-12 team.
Student Services
The Rotman School provides a supportive and caring environment as you pursue your MBA. Staff in our Program Services area and Corporate Connections Centre provide a positive, customer-service oriented atmosphere. Students often comment on how approachable and helpful our staff and faculty are when they have questions on everything from résumé writing, to choosing electives, to networking.
Pursuing an MBA is a big life decision, not just for you, but for your spouse and family as well. With that in mind, the Rotman School has a club for spouses/partners of MBAs — “Significant Others” — and social events are organized each year so that spouses can form their own network of people with whom to meet and socialize during your time in the MBA program. Also note that students with children can use the services of the University of Toronto's Family Care Office.
