Rotman MBA Team Wins the 3rd Annual Global Accounting for Sustainability International Case Competition.

Toronto – With a move to a digital competition resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the third annual Accounting for Sustainability International Case Competition (A4SICC) was hosted by the University of Toronto’s Rotman School on Management on March 28.

 

The competition asked student teams from universities around the world to develop their ideas on how to scale up sustainable finance. Participating teams demonstrated their agility in responding to rapidly changing circumstances and submitted video of their ideas for judging instead of presenting in-person in Toronto.

 

Placing first was Team Satat, composed of Full Time MBA students from the Rotman School of Management including Saloni Sheth, MBA’21; Rohit Mathew, MBA’21; Lavanya Madhyanam, MBA’21; Neha Upadhyay, MBA’21 and; Melbin Thomas Jose,MBA’21. The team pitched an investment platform, called Investor's Planet, which enables users to invest exclusively in sustainable businesses. Placing second was Team Triple A with students from the Bachelor of Business Administration program at the National University of Singapore, for with their idea that incorporated smart contracts and blockchain technology to deliver Verifiable Green Bonds.

 

The event was hosted in partnership with The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S), a CFO and accounting bodies-led non profit organization, established by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. A4S works with the finance, accounting and investor community to build a sustainable, resilient economy. It was made possible by support from sponsors: Brookfield Asset ManagementOntario Teachers' Pension Plan, and Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada).
