Toronto – Six business leaders with experience ranging from global health to design thinking, finance, and law have received appointments as either executives in residence or adjunct professors at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. The appointees will bring their global experiences to several student, research, and teaching initiatives across the Rotman School.
Emma Aiken-Klar has been appointed as an executive in residence working with the Rotman School’s Business Design Initiative (BDI), an education centre that brings together students, researchers and industry to tackle real-world business challenges to advance innovation practice and learning. She is a member of the BDI advisory board. Previously she was Senior Vice President, Global Insights and Chief Anthropologist with Idea Couture. She holds a PhD in anthropology from the University of Toronto.
Mark Britnell will be an executive in residence and senior fellow with the Sandra Rotman Centre for Health Sector Strategy. From 2009 to 2020, he served as Global Chairman and Senior Partner, Healthcare, Government & Infrastructure for KPMG International and is based in London, UK. Prior to joining KPMG he served as Chief Executive of University Hospitals Birmingham in the UK’s National Health Service. Recently he was a guest lecturer in the Rotman School’s Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences program, speaking from his first book In Search of the Perfect Health System. He holds a degree from the University of Warwick.
Nick Chambers will be an executive in residence working with the Rotman Onboard Fellowship Program, which matches MBA students with non-profit boards and charities for eight-month fellowships. He will also play an active advisory role with the Rotman African Caribbean Business Club, a student-led that aims to inspire and empower a generation of African and Caribbean leaders. He will also help support independent consulting projects, which support black community initiatives such as the Black Opportunity Fund. Currently he is a partner with executive search firm Boyden. He holds a degree from McMaster University.
Dr. Jim de Wilde has been appointed as an executive-in-residence. He has co-taught a longstanding MBA course on Venture Capital Strategy with Prof. Brian Silverman, who holds the J.R.S. Prichard and Ann Wilson Chair in Management, and is also an instructor in the Global Capital Markets Strategy course in the Rotman Commerce program. Throughout his career as an educator and venture capitalist, he has focused on the issues of global competitiveness and the commercialization of knowledge through activities in both the private sector and the public sector. He holds a PhD in political science from McGill University.
Cornell Wright, JD/MBA’00, has been appointed as an executive in residence with a focus on coaching and mentoring students as well as recent graduates of Rotman School programs. Recently he led a leadership and career development series for twenty-five black alumni and students. A lawyer, he is currently a partner with Torys, where he Chair of the Corporate Department and a member of the Executive Committee. He is active with several alumni initiatives for both the Rotman School and the University’s Faculty of Law and is a graduate of the JD/MBA program.
Dr. Jun Yuan was appointed as an adjunct professor to support the Rotman School’s programs and initiatives in the area of risk management including the Master of Financial Risk Management program. He first joined the Rotman School in 2016 as an executive in residence and is a member of the advisory board for Rotman FinHub: The Financial Innovation Lab, which carries out research and develops educational material in all aspects of financial innovation. Currently he is managing director and head of Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review methodology at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
