Distinguished Professor Award Presented and New Appointments to Professorships Announced at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Toronto – A professor been honoured with the University of Toronto Distinguished Professor Award and two other faculty members at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management have received new appointments.  

 

Prof. Heski Bar-Isaac will hold the title of University of Toronto Distinguished Professor of Economics & Finance for a five-year term, which began on July1. This awards program is designed to advance and recognize faculty across the University with highly distinguished accomplishments and those who display exceptional promise. 

 

Two other Rotman School professors received new appointments, which were announced recently by the University. Prof. Katy DeCelles will hold the Secretary of State Professorship in Organizational Effectiveness and Prof. Joseph Milner is the Magna Professorship in Management.  

 

Heski Bar-Isaac is a professor of integrative thinking, finance, and economic analysis and policy.and the coordinator for the economic analysis and policy area. His research focuses on applied microeconomic theory, in particular applications of information economics, game theory, and contract theory to industrial organization, organizational economics, and corporate finance. He is a managing editor of Economic Journal, associate editor with RAND Journal of Economics, and is a member of the editorial board of American Economic Review. 

 

Katy DeCelles is professor of organizational behavior & human resource management, cross-appointed to UofT’s Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies. She is also the academic director of the Rotman PhD program. Her research is on the intersection of organizational behavior and criminology. She focuses on understanding the micro-mechanisms involved in conflict, power, inequality, activism and aggression as they relate to organizations. Her award-winning research has been highlighted in outlets such as the Smithsonian Magazine, BBC, CNN, and The New York Times and Poets&Quants recognized her as a top business school professor in 2018.  

 

Joseph Milner is a professor of operations management and Vice-Dean, MBA Programs, where he oversees the Rotman Full-Time MBA, Morning and Evening MBA, Executive MBA, Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA and Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences programs. He has previously served as the academic director for the Rotman Full-Time MBA program. He teaches courses on operations management, operations strategy, and service operations at the MBA and Executive MBA levels. His research interests include service operations modeling, revenue management and healthcare operations. His publications appear in Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management, and he serves on their editorial boards.
