Rotman School Alumni Among Canada’s Most Powerful Women for 2021.

Toronto – Three graduates of degree programs at the University of Toronto’s Rotman of Management were named by the Women’s Executive Network (WXN) to the list of the Top 100 most powerful women in Canada. The list recognizes the country’s highest achieving female leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

Chelsie McKnight, BCom’06, Director, Channel Strategy & Programs, TELUS Small Business, is one of the Mercedes-Benz Emerging Leaders, which recognizes women between the ages of 30 to 45 years, who have been targeted for successive leadership positions within their organizations and have a proven passion for learning and innovation.

Alice Thomas, MBA’94, Chief Digital Technology Officer, Sun Life, received the Manulife Science and Technology award, which recognizes women in STEM roles who are challenging the status quo for knowledge and female empowerment,

Ula Ubani, MBA’97, Ombudsperson & Chief Ethics and Conduct Officer, BMO Financial Group, received the CIBC Executive Leaders award, which recognizes women, aged 46 plus, who not only exemplify what it means to be a great leader, but also build confidence and champion others.

In addition, eight other women who graduated from the Rotman School’s Executive Programs, including the Directors Education Program, were honoured.

  • Angela Brown, President & CEO, Moneris Solutions;
  • Nicolle Butcher, Senior Vice President, Renewable Generation and Power Markets, Ontario Power Generation;
  • Jennifer Flanagan, President and Chief Executive Officer, Actua;
  • Julia Hanigsberg, President and Chief Executive Officer, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital;
  • Veni Iozzo, Executive Vice-President, Enterprise Real Estate and Workplace Transformation, CIBC;
  • Kashmera Self, AVP, Strategy & Emerging Solutions Delivery, Interac Corp.;
  • Anne Whelan,  Founder and CEO, Seafair Capital; and,
  • Susanna Zagar, Chief Executive Officer, Ontario Energy Board.

The awards were announced this week and all of the winners will be honoured next month during the Canada's Most Powerful Women Top 100 Awards Program, which includes a virtual two-day Leadership Summit and Gala. Women's Executive Network (WXN), a member-based organization, is a national organization that meaningfully propels and celebrates the advancement of women at , and of all ages.
