Rotman School's Impact Consulting Group Marks 40th Anniversary of Problem Solving for Clients

Toronto, June 6, 2012 – In 1972 a group of students in the University of Toronto’s MBA program joined together to form a management consulting organization which is now known as the Impact Consulting Group. The goals of Impact were to provide premium consulting services to clients large and small and to deliver solutions with long-lasting results.

Forty years later, the current Impact partners are still working together to solve complex business problems for their clients by bringing their own professional and industry experience to projects, while tapping into the resources of the Rotman School of Management such as the school’s world-class faculty.

“Impact is a consulting firm with a 40-year reputation, but it is also a new entrepreneurial venture with new partners each year. This attracts confident, creative problem-solvers who bring that entrepreneurial mindset into providing client solutions that exceed expectations,” says Rotman Prof. Matthew Grennan and Chair of Impact’s Board of Directors.

Impact operates as an independent organization. Every spring, five new partners are hired and trained by the previous team in a rigorous recruitment process. The partners are selected for their business acumen, problem-solving skills and entrepreneurial sensibilities and are supported by a Board of Directors comprised of Rotman faculty and industry professionals.

“The Impact team prides itself on delivering exceptional value. The continuous flow of referrals from previous clients over the past four decades reinforces the fact that this entrepreneurial consulting model really works,” says partner Justin LoPresti, MBA ’13.

“From facilitating a market entry plan for an early-stage start-up to collaborating on a growth strategy for an established organization, the Impact Consulting Group offers a variety of top-quality business services at highly competitive rates,” adds partner Chris Siemieniuch, MBA ’13.

Past partners at Impact have gone on to successful post-MBA careers in a wide-range of industries and professions in countries around the world.

“My time at Impact provided a unique entrepreneurial experience by allowing me the opportunity to manage every aspect of an engagement lifecycle. Through Impact, I was able to learn firsthand the required skills for building a successful start-up organization, opening the door for me to build a company focused on the clean-tech sector,” says Christopher Charlesworth, who was a partner in 2007/08.
