Rotman School’s Executive Program for HR Professionals Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Toronto, June 18, 2012 – For twenty-five years, the Advanced Program in Human Resources Management (APHRM) offered by Rotman Executive Programs at the UofT’s Rotman School of Management, has helped over 2,000 graduates develop the HR expertise needed to become and remain great performers.

The program, aimed at HR professionals from all industries and sectors nation-wide, is designed to foster a sophisticated understanding of strategic management issues. It also explores proven approaches to linking HR best practices with broader organizational strategy.

Program participants have included: Senior HR professionals; HR managers who want to gain an integrative, strategic perspective on HR ; Senior managers taking on HR responsibilities after success in other functional areas and Mid-level managers moving to senior manager positions.

"One of the strengths of this program is how it provides HR professionals with sound academic grounding in HR issues while also addressing current issues and concerns that are emerging in the workplace," says Hugh Arnold, Academic Director of APHRM who is an adjunct professor at the Rotman School. "This year, based on industry feedback, we have included new sessions on Corporate Governance, Talent Management & Succession Planning and HR Leadership. We are also bringing real-world expertise into the classroom with sessions taught by Rose Patten, Special Advisor to the President and CEO of BMO Financial Group."

The program is offered in partnership with the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA).

"We are delighted with our partnership with Rotman over the years," says William (Bill) Greenhalgh, CEO, Human Resources Professionals Association. "The APHRM allows HRPA members with a university degree to satisfy the academic requirements to write the National Knowledge Exam leading to the Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP). For our CHRP members the APHRM satisfies 100% of the activities required for triannial recertification. These are huge benefits to our members."

The next offering of the APHRM begins October 1, 2012 at the Rotman School
