The Legacy Issue (Fall 2013)

Most of us don’t spend much time thinking about what our ‘legacy’ will be. But the fact is, it is never too early to start thinking about the long-term impact you can have on your community, your organization – and the world. Every choice you make, whether at work, at home or in your community, will be part of the legacy you leave. In this issue, we look at what it means to influence positive action and explore some ways to go about this.

The people and organizations that are most successful these days are those who offer something extra. Think of it as ‘secret sauce’. The question is, are there patterns to these recipes for success? Are there particular ‘ingredients’ that are more likely than others to create alchemy? In this issue, we attempt to answer these questions and draw attention to some potentially game-changing ingredients.

If you could design an optimal work environment, what characteristics would it include? While there is no definitive list, certain things are bound to appear on most wish lists: a clear strategic vision; an integrity-filled culture; a dedication to innovation; engaged, productive employees; and passionate, authentic leaders.
