Our Magazine and Your Privacy

Your privacy is important to us.  The following information and privacy statement from Rotman Management magazine outlines what information we collect, why and how we protect your information, and contacting preferences. 

Types of Information We Collect

The type of personal information that the magazine may collect from you (our readers and/or subscribers) include: your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, organization name, job title, payment information (for billing purposes), delivery instructions, and individual customer service preferences (such as "do not solicit"). In addition, from time to time, we may ask you to provide us with more detailed information regarding your interests, occupation, and background. For example, we sometimes ask our customers to complete surveys in order to get a better sense of who they are and what topics may be of interest to them and our readership. Finally, from time to time, we may acquire demographic and other information about you (e.g. your occupation and interests) from an outside organization, but only if you have previously agreed to allow such an organization to disclose the information to third parties. 

Website information: We collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of all visitors to our website and other related information such as page requests, browser type, operating system and average time spent on our website through Google Analytics. We use this information to monitor and improve the Rotman Management magazine website only.

The Rotman Management magazine website (aka ‘our website’) may use a technology called "cookies”. A cookie is a tiny element of data that our website can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your hard drive so we can recognize you when you return. If you have registered with our website, these cookies (1) may let us know who you are and (2) provide us and our service providers with information that we will use to personalize our website in accordance with your preferences. You may set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie. However, should you decide not to accept cookies from our website, you may limit the functionality we can provide when you visit.

Click Tags: Our website may also use a technology called “click tags”. This technology allows us to understand which pages you visit on our website. Click tags are used to help us optimize our website and provide the best content for you and other future website visitors.

Collection and Management of Personal Information

We collect your personal information for the purposes listed below: 

  • To provide the product you requested and information about your order

    If you are a subscriber or have signed up for a free trial offer, your name and address (postal and/or e-mail), will be used to deliver the magazine and/or correspond with you regarding your subscription order (i.e. send a bill, notify you that your subscription is expiring, etc.). 

  • To process payment

    We use two of North America’s largest and most trusted transaction processors – Moneris and Global Payments – to process your payment depending on your method of choice: 

    Online payments: The credit card information you submit online (name, number, and expiry date) goes into a secure Moneris page and is not shared with us (“the merchant”). 

    Phoned/emailed/mailed/faxed payments:
    We use a Global Payments terminal to process credit card payments that are submitted directly to us. Once the transaction has been approved, we discard your information.

    In both cases, your credit card information is not stored with us and you will need to resubmit your credit card information should you wish to make additional purchases.
  • To send you information

    From time to time we may send you further information about our publication and its offers.

  • Disclosure to affiliates and trading partners

    Occasionally we may make portions of our subscriber list available to affiliates in the Rotman School of Management and/or carefully screened companies that offer products or services that we think would interest our readers.We do this only with our readers’ consent. Control of Your Personal Information

We want you to be able to maintain control over how we use your personal information. You have the right to “opt out” of any or all of the above purposes and can change your preferences at any time. You can access your personal information at any time by signing into Subscriber Services at www.rotman.utoronto.ca/SubscriberServices. Please note: if you refuse or withdraw your consent, we may not be able to provide you or continue to provide you with certain services or information that may be of value to you.
