Why did you decide to study the Master of Management Analytics program?

I have a business background and work experience in Sales and Marketing. During this time, I used to analyze and work with a lot of data, and I was always thinking of better ways to understand and process it. As the field of Data science evolved, I realized that I wanted to acquire the skills, tools, and techniques and plan a career path around it. The MMA program at Rotman is very reputed, the faculty is brilliant and the program content was very appealing to me.

What were your top reasons for choosing Rotman?

I applied to 3 master's programs and got admissions to offer from all. I choose the MMA program at Rotman, because of its strong focus on business applications as well as developing technical and analytical skills. The program has an excellent reputation and a strong alumni network. The Practicum project was also a key differentiator for me.

What are you looking forward to most in the program?

As mentioned earlier, I am truly excited about my Practicum project. It is a live project working with the Data Science team in an industry I am really interested in. I will be working with a team from my class and working cross-functionally with people from different departments. This is something I am really looking forward to.

What do you expect to gain in your next 11 months at Rotman?

Through my MMA journey, I hope to gain strong technical and analytics skills, network with Rotman’s impressive alumni network, professors and classmates, complete the practicum project and attend inspiring events, talks, and sessions.

How have you found the online experience at Rotman? 

My online experience with Rotman has been great. I had some initial connectivity issues but once that was addressed, I had a very smooth journey online. The professors make a great effort to make classes engaging and interactive. The program team is very friendly, accessible, and prompt. Though I would prefer to live physical classes, the online experience has been great too.

Did COVID-19 make you re-consider your decision to study this year, and if so, what made you decide to continue? 

The COVID-19 situation was (and still is) unprecedented and as the situation kept changing, I was in constant touch with the MMA program team and alumni from the program to get their inputs and assess the situation. I took an informed decision and finally joined the program, and now I can say that I am truly glad I did.
