Become a better leader

Why choose the Rotman One-Year Executive MBA program? Senior managers and executives choose the EMBA program for many reasons. Dale Kehler, Vice-President, Solutions at SYSPRO Canada and EMBA graduate shares his involvement, thought process and tips on his recent experience.

Leadership focus

While the idea of an accelerated degree – being able to earn an executive MBA in just 13 months – was what initially attracted Dale to Rotman, the leadership focus that the School placed on its students was the key deciding reason for his choosing the program. “The Rotman’s EMBA program really changed the way I think and work. It expanded my views, enriched my capabilities and showed me how I can be a better leader. It has also opened the door to new experiences, people and opportunities, “ he explains.

“It was great getting to know so many amazing people. My classmates, the professors, and the entire Rotman staff made it a truly rewarding experience.”

Maximize your experience

“I would advise prospective students to look at how the program is structured to provide learning, relationship building and opportunities. There is a lot in the program that you will want to leverage that will be valuable to your leadership and career growth.

“For example, electives. I chose to participate in a week-long session at SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy. The courses added another dimension to the program and learning with international classmates was inspiring. I also enjoyed learning about start-up strategy and artificial intelligence in the introduction the Creative Destruction Lab class.”

The journey to becoming a better leader

The Rotman One-Year Executive MBA program lays the roadmap for the journey to becoming a better leader, however, the journey goes beyond learning the fundamentals of business management. “Take advantage of Rotman’s career service resources. They are terrific. They provided an abundance of resources, support and guidance in my leadership journey that will serve me well beyond the EMBA.”
