Investors need to know the impact of the climate crisis on businesses

Elizabeth Warren’s call for mandatory disclosure of climate-related impacts stands in stark contrast to Canada’s go-slow, voluntary approach, writes Jennifer Wells.

Let’s look to that opening line of Elizabeth Warren’s reintroduced Climate Risk Disclosure Act as a conversational starting point. The senator from Massachusetts, inexhaustible on the hustings, is often on her best game when she’s laser focused on corporate behaviour. And so again this week with a revived bill cosponsored by Amy Klobuchar, Kamala Harris and others, and supported by 33 organizations, including Global Witness and the Sierra Club.
