Bio

Irene Wiecek is a Professor, Teaching Stream, Accounting Area, Director of the Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA) Program and Director of the BIGDataHUB at the Institue for Management & Innovation at the University of Toronto Mississauga, with a cross-appointment to the Accounting area at Rotman.  She is the author and co-author of numerous books and publications including sever editions of Intermediate Accounting (Kieso et al - Canadian Edition) and the IFRS Primer: International GAAP Basics - both Canadian and U.S. editions (with Nickie Young). She is a member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board IFRS Discussion Group as well as the newly created International Panel on Accountancy Education of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). Irene is a member of the CPA Canada Foresight working group "Reimagining the Profession" and currently sits on the Data Governance committee relating to that project. Her current interests include the impact of new technologies and innovations on the future of the accounting profession and accounting education.
