Biographies

Iain Marlow is The Globe and Mail’s Asia-Pacific correspondent. Based in Vancouver, he is responsible for covering Canada’s business and economic ties with the booming economies of Asia, as well as key stories that shape the political and economic landscape of the region. He has reported from China, India, the U.S. and West Africa, and most recently covered the Indian elections for the Globe and Mail. Iain joined the Globe in 2010 as the telecom reporter for Report on Business and later focused explicitly on Blackberry as the company’s troubles deepened. In 2012, Iain’s work was nominated for three National Magazine Awards. He won Silver in Business for the story of a Canadian company’s rocky ride to building a cheap tablet in India. His reporting from Lagos, Nigeria, on Blackberry’s emerging market strategy won a Best in Business Award from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. He was also part of a team that was recently nominated for a national newspaper award for coverage of Blackberry. Before joining The Globe, Iain studied journalism and human rights at Carleton University and earned an M.Sc. from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), where he studied on a Chevening Scholarship.

Partha Mohanram is the CGA Ontario Professor of Financial Accounting at Rotman. He has published extensively in the areas of financial statement analysis, valuation of growth firms, implied cost of capital and executive compensation. He serves on the editorial board of The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies and Contemporary Accounting Research. He teaches advanced electives on business analysis and valuation. He joined Rotman after serving on the faculty of Columbia and New York University. He obtained his PhD from Harvard, MBA from IIM – Ahmedabad, and B.Tech from IIT-Madras.

Kasi Rao is the Vice-President and Director for the Foundation's Toronto Office. Prior to his current role , he was a Senior Fellow with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada. Kasi Rao also currently serves as a consultant & advisor based in Toronto providing guidance on India related strategies. In this capacity he advises corporations, universities, think tanks, not-for-profit organizations, and, different levels of government. He is a member of the Government of Saskatchewan's Asia Advisory Council. As well, he serves as the Senior Advisor (India) to the law firm Bennett Jones.

Dilip Soman is a Professor and holds the Corus Chair in Communications Strategy at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. He is also the coordinator of the Behavioural Economics in Action research cluster
