Session Synopsis: The Exponential Impact Lecture is a distinguished lecture inviting industrial innovation leaders to describe how they nurture platform technologies from which all business units can benefit, how they leverage advances in adjacent sectors to accelerate their own innovations and how they cross-pollinate ideas and methodologies across business units to develop new products and services.

About Our Speakers:

Ravi Arora is a Vice President - Group Innovation, Tata Sons and is responsible for the Corporate Innovation program. He has conceptualized programs like Tata InnoVista, Tata InnoVerse, Tata Ideas, Tata InnoMeter and Challenges Worth Solving. He partners with various Tata companies in implementing and maturing these programs.

Ravi started his career at Tata Steel as a maintenance engineer. Later, after completing his executive MBA, he initiated & led the Knowledge Management program at Tata Steel, which was recognized as a Best Practice company by APQC, USA and won the MAKE (Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise) award. These innovation & KM programs have been shared at HBS, CEB & global conferences.

Ravi is actively engaged with business schools like INSEAD, SMU for joint research projects related to behavior science. He is the author of Making Innovations Happen: How You Can Develop a Culture of Innovation in Your Organization (Penguin, 2015) and Igniting Innovation: The Tata Way (HarperCollins, 2019)”

Professor Joseph Wong is interim Vice-President, International, the Ralph and Roz Halbert Professor of Innovation at the Munk School of Global Affairs, and Professor of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science at the University of Toronto. He also held the Canada Research Chair in Health, Democracy, and Development for two terms from 2006 to 2016. He is the author of many academic articles and several books, including Healthy Democracies: Welfare Politics in Taiwan and South Korea and Betting on Biotech: Innovation and the Limits of Asia’s Developmental State, both published by Cornell University Press. Inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals, in collaboration with the MasterCard Center for Inclusive Growth, Professor Wong developed the Reach Alliance, a model for student-led, faculty-driven, multi-disciplinary research dedicated to investigating the pathways to success for innovative development programs that are reaching the world’s most marginalized populations: http://reachalliance.org/what-is-reach. He is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
