    A team of academics will present a broad unbiased view of active investing; including a summary of current research, the role for passive investing, benefits and risks of passive investing, and provide background and discussion on the validity of the common ownership issue. The team will present the current data on Canadian shareholdings prepared exclusively for this event. Academic presentations will be followed by a panel discussion bringing together the perspectives of academics and asset managers.

  • Capital Markets Institute - Next Steps: Cooperative Capital Markets Regulatory System

    In its November 9, 2018 decision the Supreme Court of Canada unanimously upheld the constitutionality of a proposal to implement a national cooperative capital markets regulatory system currently by the federal government and six (6) of thirteen (13) provincial and territorial governments. Our panel of experts will comment on the decision and discuss the next steps in the implementation of a pan-Canadian securities regulation.
