    Presented by the Sandra Rotman Centre for Health Sector Strategy in partnership with the University Health Network Office of Technology Development & Commercialization, the goal of this workshop is to address the key strategic trends to aid those working within the industry as well as entrepreneurs or new entrants to the medical devices arena. Topics and examples will focus on Canadian and global companies.

    Please join us on Friday, May 24, 2019 in our state-of-the-art auditorium on the downtown University of Toronto campus for a packed day of provocative presentations and dialogue on artificial intelligence, digital technology, and how it will fundamentally change the way that we deliver and engage with healthcare. Themes of our conference include the impact of AI on the roles of clinicians, industry, and the broader care environment; how we can adapt our organizations and systems to embrace the power of AI; as well as ethical considerations in the new care environment. Participants will leave our conference with insights on how to lead the transformation of their organizations and their careers to take advantage of emerging opportunities in digital health and AI.

    Join us on October 29th for a 1-hour conversation between Dr. Jen Gunter and Sarah Kaplan, Professor of Strategic Management and Director of the Institute for Gender and the Economy at the Rotman School of Management, based on her new best-seller “The Vagina Bible: The Vulva and the Vagina-Separating the Myth from the Medicine” (by Dr. Jen Gunter, Penguin Random House, 2019). They will examine the economics of the wellness industrial complex, discuss how and why Jen is fighting back against wellness influencers exploiting gaps in women’s health, and explore how these businesses profit off misinforming women about what’s supposedly good for their vaginal and sexual health.

    In this session Professors Will Mitchell and Anita McGahan will present highlights from their recently published book Private Sector Entrepreneurship in Global Health: Innovation, Scale and Sustainability. The book includes writings by management, medicine, and social science experts who have studied trends in private sector health care innovations in low and middle-income countries over the last ten years. Attend four of the Rotman Life Sciences Link and Learn Sessions to earn a Certificate of Completion.
