Devesh Varma

Bio

Dr. Varma is a mechanical engineer and fellowship trained glaucoma, cataract, and advanced anterior segment surgeon practicing in Mississauga. In addition to performing surgery at Trillium Health Partners, the Kensington Eye Institute, and TLC Mississauga, he has a keen interest in education, clinical research, and professional service. He was certifi ed in Ophthalmology by the Royal College in 2009. During his residency at the University of Saskatchewan, he developed a comprehensive Ophthalmology teaching curriculum and served as the president of the Canadian Association of Internes and Residents. After completing his fellowship at the University of Toronto under Dr. Ike Ahmed, he joined him as a Glaucoma and Advanced Anterior Segment Surgery Fellowship Preceptor and is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto. He is also Ophthalmology Coordinator for the University of Toronto Mississauga Academy of Medicine and Medical Education Lead for Trillium Health Partners. His research interests center around cataract and glaucoma as well as surgical instrument design.
