Rotman Professor Honoured by The Canadian Academic Accounting Association.

Toronto – An accounting professor at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has received the Haim Falk Award for Distinguished Contribution to Accounting Thought.
The award was presented to Prof. Ole-Kristian Hope at The Canadian Academic Accounting Association’s annual conference on May 30 in Edmonton. The award is intended to stimulate scholarly thinking and research in Canada by giving widespread recognition to excellence in scholarly achievement that clearly contributes to the advancement of accounting thought.
Prof. Hope was cited for his extraordinary research record which covers a wide range of topics in accounting which also extends to including both accounting practice and public policy issues. His work with doctoral students as the PhD coordinator in accounting at the Rotman School was also noted.
Prof. Hope is the Deloitte Professor of Accounting and the PhD coordinator in accounting at the Rotman School. He teaches financial accounting courses in the School’s MBA and PhD programs. He has broad research interests in financial disclosure, financial reporting quality, corporate governance, analysts, valuation, auditing, private firms, corporate finance, and international business issues. He has published extensively in The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, Accounting, Organizations, and Society, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, and several other journals. His research findings are regularly cited by leading media outlets such as The Economist, Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal, and he regularly presents his research at workshops, conferences, and consortia around the world.
