Rotman Net Impact Wins International Chapter of the Year Award.

September 16, 2015

Toronto – The Net Impact chapter at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has been honoured with the International Chapter of the Year Award.

Out of three hundred chapters worldwide, Rotman Net Impact won the award which was based on a combination of a public vote and a judging panel.

The chapter at the Rotman School was cited for its impact and growth during the 2014/15 school year.

During the year the chapter launched the Rotman Sustainability Initiative, which culminated in an expansive report and recommendations to the Dean on sustainability at the School. Ultimately, with the involvement of faculty, staff and students in the Sustainability Working Group, the School added a sustainability major in the School’s Full Time, Morning and Evening MBA programs. In addition, the chapter grew its membership, its leadership team and its event schedule, including a dinner and panel event to promote the sustainability curriculum at the School.  Rotman Net Impact also deepened existing partnerships with The Michael Lee-Chin Family Institute for Corporate Citizenship and Rotman NeXus, the School’s management consulting service which helps non-profit organizations and social enterprises. The Rotman chapter also launched new collaborations with the Net Impact chapters at Ryerson University and York University and hosted a national Corporate Social Responsibility Case Competition.

Last December the chapter hosted the inaugural quarterfinal event for the Hult Prize, the world’s largest student competition for budding social entrepreneurs. Team Attollo, composed of Rotman MBA students and alumni, won the quarterfinal and will present later this month as one of six teams in the finals in New York. Three other Rotman MBA teams reached the regional semi-finals in the competition.
