New Faculty Appointments at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management

Toronto – New faculty appointments in both tenured and teaching streams were announced by the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management today for the academic year. The appointments strengthen teaching and research activities at the school in academic areas including economic analysis and policy, finance, marketing, organizational behaviour and human resource management, operations management and statistics and strategic management.

Regina Seibel is an assistant professor of economic analysis and policy. Her primary research fields are industrial organization and competition policy as well as collusion, innovation, and auctions. She earned a PhD in economics from the University of Zurich

Goutham Gopalakrishna is an assistant professor of finance. His research interests include macro-finance, machine learning, and asset pricing. He received his Ph.D. from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the Swiss Finance Institute. He is currently a visiting assistant professor at the Bendheim Center for Finance at Princeton University.

Samsun Knight is an assistant professor of marketing. His research focuses on quantitative retail marketing, machine learning, and empirical industrial organization. His has a PhD in economics from Brown University and previously was a postdoctoral research associate at Northeastern University.

Alexandra Motut has received a new appointment as an assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management, teaching stream. She will continue to be the director of the RotmanCommerce Centre for Professional Skills, a position she has held since 2019.

Hansheng Jiang is an assistant professor of operations management and statistics. Her research interests lie broadly in developing methodologies and algorithms for sequential and data-driven decision-making. Her PhD is from the University of California, Berkeley.

Adam Saunders is an associate professor of operations management and statistics, teaching stream. Previously he taught for eleven years at the UBC's Sauder School of Business where he was the recipient of numerous teaching awards.

Sae-Seul Park is an assistant professor of strategic management. Her research examines strategic human capital through the lens of knowledge management and also includes information systems and incentives.  Her PhD is from Carnegie Mellon University.

Two new faculty members with cross-appointments to the Rotman School have been appointed at the University of Toronto Mississauga and University of Toronto Scarborough.

Nora Pankratz has received an appointment as an assistant professor of finance at the University of Toronto Mississauga with a cross-appointment to the Rotman School beginning on January 1, 2024. She is currently an economist at the Federal Reserve Board. She received a PhD in Finance from Maastricht University, and her research explores the potential effects of climate change on corporate finance, investments, and financial markets.

Tosen Nwadei is an assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management at the University of Toronto Scarborough with a cross-appointment to the Rotman School. His research sits at the intersection of intergroup relations, stigma, and authenticity. His PhD is from Emory University.

Seven additional part-time appointments have been made.

Eric Kang is an assistant professor of finance, teaching stream. He has taught as a sessional lecturer at the School since 2016. He is an alumnus of both the Rotman Master of Finance and Rotman Commerce programs.

Emma Aiken-Klar is an assistant professor of marketing, teaching stream. Previously she was an executive-in-residence at the School working with theBusiness Design Initiative. She is an anthropologist with over a decade of industry experience applying human-centered research methodologies to complex business and design challenges.

Inez Blackburn is an is an assistant professor of marketing, teaching stream. She has taught as a sessional lecturer at the School since 1997. She is president of Market Techniques and Innovations, a marketing and retail consulting firm.

Adam Stoehr is an assistant professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management, teaching stream. A graduate of the Rotman MBA program, he is currently vice president, education and research for Excellence Canada, where he oversees the organization’s educational services, including the development and deployment of training and certification.

Paul Jan is an assistant professor of operations management and statistics, teaching stream. He is a supply chain strategist and coach at Tevah Advisory Limited where he uses insights from operational data to help organizations.

Hussam Ayyad is an assistant professor of strategic management, teaching stream. He is also executive director of entrepreneurial activities at the Roman School. A seasoned entrepreneur, he is currently vice president, strategic initiatives at TitanFile Inc.

Hyeun Lee is an assistant professor of strategic management and a project lead of the Institute for Gender and Economy’s gender analytics programming. She studies gender inequality and corporate governance, focusing on how changes in the information environment shape individual and organizational behavior.
