Business Design at Rotman

Workshops, sprints, case competitions, academic courses: we offer a wide range of learning opportunities to build and hone your Business Design skills in the Rotman MBA program.

We have created a suite of offerings to help you build confidence and gain mastery in Business Design. Create and curate your own learning experience, with guidance from the DesignWorks staff.

You can take extra-curricular sessions in the Sandbox Series – boot camps, workshops and sprints – that allow you to explore Business Design alongside the academic program.

A boot camp is a fast-paced, short-duration run through of the entire Business Design process, demonstrating how the process and tools really work.

The workshops focus on key innovation skills. These include: visual thinking, user experience design, empathy and need finding, and strategy. These sessions are taught by the DesignWorks team and industry practitioners. In the past we’ve collaborated with industry partners such as: SYPartners, Bridgeable, CoLab – Government of Alberta and ZIBA.

Sprints are fast-paced opportunities to build your practice of Business Design. Over a 2-week period, you collaborate with other MBA students to apply your skills to a real-world challenge.

In the academic program at the Rotman School of Management, you can take selected academic courses in your second year, and even pursue a Business Design major.
