Rafael holds a Master of Science degree in management research and an MBA with focus on IT management. He has 20 years of advisory experience in Latin and North America, including 7 years leading the security practice as the national director at TELUS and the Toronto-based Practice Leader at Ernst & Young.
Rafael has subject matter expertise in IT risk and security management, privacy, business continuity, IT governance and compliance. He has published papers with ISSA, ISACA and ISC2 peer-reviewed journals, and IT World / CIO Canada. Rafael has also been a regular speaker in conferences and public events, and was interviewed by CBC, CTV/W5, Security Matters, Canadian Security, Financial Post, TorStar, Les Affaires and others on cyber security issues.
Rafael is a doctoral researcher in cyber-security and teaches business operations and quantitative reasoning for management at the Rotman Executive MBA program, using statistics to solve managerial problems and improving decision-making based on data analysis.
