Computing

The Management Data Lab is enhancing the study and practice of management analytics at Rotman by providing state-of-the-art computing and programming support to students and faculty.

Teaching

Rotman Analytics Cluster (RAC) for teaching is a computing platform for big data analysis maintained by MDL and its partner at Centre for Advanced Computing. The cluster consists of five powerful nodes, and is scalable based on usage. It has a large amount of data science software installed, including, for example, Python, R, SAS Viya and the full Hadoop ecosystem (Hortonworks HDP). The RAC is a perfect experimental platform for students to discover and learn big data technologies. It is accessible 24/7 from anywhere using the Internet.

Research

For researchers who need data storage and computing capacity beyond their personal computers, please contact MDL for a consultation. We can assist you to find a suitable computing platform. Depending on your needs, we can help you to get started with one of the high performance computing systems sponsored through Compute Canada (e.g. the Niagara Cluster at SciNet and the Cedar Cluster at WestGrid), or we may guide you to build your personalized computing environment on Rotman IT platform or at a Cloud service provider.
