Rotman Management Wins National Magazine Award

June 9, 2014

Toronto – Rotman Management, the magazine of the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, has won a silver medal in the ‘Best Single Issue’ category at the 2014 National Magazine Awards. The awards, which recognize excellence in Canada’s print and digital publications, were announced at a gala in Toronto last Friday evening.

Rotman Management was recognized for The Legacy Issue, published in Fall 2013 and featuring articles by Rotman Associate Dean and Professor Anita McGahan, David Beatty and Matt Fullbrook of the Rotman School’s Clarkson Centre for Business Ethics and Board Effectiveness, Rotman Prof. Richard Florida as well as contributions by Harvard Business School Professor Clayton Christensen and the Darden’s School Prof. Jeanne Liedtka, among others.  The issue’s Thought Leader Interview was with former Rotman Dean Roger Martin, who had just stepped down from his 15-year tenure as Dean and inspired the issue’s theme.

The gold medal in the category was awarded to The Walrus for its 10th anniversary issue, published in Winter 2013.  Others nominated for Best Single Issue included Cottage Life (which went on to win Magazine of the Year), Toronto Life and Azure.

The Awards are presented by the National Magazine Awards Foundation (NMAF), a not-for-profit institution whose mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the content and creation of Canadian print and digital publications. This year, from nearly 2,000 individual entries received nationwide, the NMAF’s 238 volunteer judges nominated a total of 376 submissions from 92 different Canadian magazines for awards in 47 written, visual, integrated and special categories.
