May 11, 2015

Toronto – Three executives with experience in global banking and marketing and long-time teaching connections with the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management have been appointed as adjunct professors.

Simon Ashbourne will be an adjunct professor while Delaine Hampton and Rose Patten will continue to be executives-in-residence as well as adjunct professors.

Simon Ashbourne has taught courses in Marketing and Global Marketing in the Rotman School's MBA, Executive MBA and Omnium Global Executive programs since 2000. He is a partner and co-founder of The Marketplace Capabilities Group Inc., a leading sales and marketing consulting firm, specializing in the consumer goods and pharmaceutical industries. His consulting experience spans 25 years and has included client work throughout North America as well as in Europe and the Far East. Prior to consulting, he worked in marketing positions at Procter and Gamble and Cadbury Beverages.

Delaine Hampton joined the Rotman School in 2010 as an executive-in-residence. Her career with Procter & Gamble spanned 35 years and roles of increasing responsibility in Product Development, Marketing, Market Research, and Corporate Innovation for Consumer and Market Knowledge. As Director of Market Research Innovation, she led contributions to P&G's growth through creation and adoption of new business practices. These included models and decision support tools for managing product initiatives, developing category-level strategy and predicting future market directions.  In 2006, she was inducted as an inaugural member of the North Star Fellowship, P&G’s lifetime mastery community for Consumer and Market Knowledge innovators. She currently teaches in the School’s MBA and Executive Programs.

Rose Patten has been an executive-in-residence at the Rotman School since 2013, where she is teaching leadership development, succession and corporate governance. She is currently a Special Advisor to the CEO of BMO Financial.  Her career has spanned the four financial sectors – banking, trust, insurance and investment banking – and included mandates with responsibility for Canada, the U.S. and Asia. At BMO she has held the positions of senior executive vice-president and head of enterprise strategy, as well as head of global human resources, corporate communications and senior leadership advisor. She also played a crucial role in pioneering an executive leadership program for the bank in partnership with the Rotman School. She has also held senior leadership roles at Nesbitt Burns, Manulife Financial and Continental Bank of Canada/Lloyds Bank Canada.
