Toronto – A team from the Master of Financial Risk Management (MFRM) program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management placed first in the Toronto regional final of the PRMIA Risk Management Challenge to advance to the international final of the challenge.
The Professional Risk Managers' International Association Risk Management Challenge (PRMIA) is an annual international competition for students from multiple disciplines to use their critical and creative thinking skills to solve realistic business problems with a risk management focus.
It was announced on April 6 that Team Hedgehog with members Lydia Gao, Alice Qiu, Michael Ren, and Cindy Zhu, all from the MFRM Class of 2020, won the Toronto regional final.
In the international final to be held online on April 20, the Rotman MFRM team will compete against the winners of regional finals from Boston, Chicago, Egypt, Hungary, Ireland, London, UK, Montreal, Netherlands, New York, Russia, and Vancouver. MathWorks, who will host the final, is the global sponsor the competition.
An intensive program for recent graduates with solid quantitative skills from undergraduate university programs, the Rotman MFRM is designed to prepare students for careers in risk management. The unique curriculum combines coursework, an applied project with a company in the field, workshops on leadership and communications skills as well as a speaker series featuring practitioners.
