September 7, 2021

Toronto – Poets&Quants have named two recent graduates from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management to the list of the Best & Brightest Executive MBAs for 2021

Hugh C. Martin is a graduate of the One-Year Executive MBA program. He is President of Unicell Limited in Toronto and Unicell Body Company in Buffalo.

Xijuan (Scarlett) Zhang is also a graduate of the One-Year Executive MBA program. She is currently Head of Risk Management & Compliance with Boson Protocol.

They were among the 102 graduates from 49 different programs honored in Poets&Quants 7th annual Best & Brightest Executive MBAs feature. Graduates were selected for contributions to the class, academic performance, extracurricular involvement, personal intangibles, and unique personal stories.

“When Hugh returned to Toronto to apprentice as the next CEO of Unicell, he registered for Rotman’s Executive MBA program to gain knowledge in all aspects of the business. His experiences manifest as perspective, even wisdom, when he plans, strategizes, and solves problems. His interpersonal skills are highly polished; A testament to his leadership capabilities is the set of relationships he has formed with Unicell employees, from accountants to tradespeople to drivers,” said John Oesch, associate professor of organizational behaviour and human resource management.

“As soon as Scarlet enters a room, her quiet intelligent presence is evident. During her studies in the Executive MBA Program, her classmates respected her as a natural leader on projects, class discussions, and team deliverables – she made a lasting positive impact on the class. Not surprising to us, she maintained a high GPA in the EMBA program while successfully adding the Creative Destruction Lab advanced course to the list of her academic achievements,” said Rocca Morra Hodge, Executive Coach, Careers and Leadership, Executive MBA Program, and Natasha Mackley, Associate Director, Executive MBA Program.

The Rotman School offers a One-Year Executive MBA,a Global Executive MBA for Healthcare and the Life Sciences and the Rotman-SDA Bocconi Global Executive MBA, which spans 4 continents over 18 months, in partnership with the SDA Bocconi School of Management.
