Rotman Finance Professor Wins Capital Markets Best Paper Award

Toronto – A paper co-authored by Tom McCurdy, a professor of finance at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, has won theCapital Markets Best Paper Award at the 2023 European Financial Management Association Conference held earlier this summer.

“Does News, Order Flow, or Illiquidity drive jumps in stock returns? In the day or in the night?” is co-authored by Prof. McCurdy with Prof. Yoontae Jeon from McMaster University, who is a graduate of the Rotman PhD program, and Prof. Stephen Szaura from BI Norwegian Business School.

McCurdy holds the Bonham Chair in International Finance and is the founder of the BMO Financial Group Finance Research and Trading Lab
