Rotman School Marketing Professor Appointed to the 2023 Class of MSI Young Scholars

October 4, 2023

Toronto – Kristen Duke, an assistant professor of marketing at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, is one of thirty-three early-career academics, who has been named to the 2023 Class of MSI Young Scholars. The Young Scholars Program was developed to recognize excellence in marketing scholarship, develop a cohort across marketing disciplines, and strengthen ties between scholars and MSI. Prof. Duke will join the class for a retreat in January 2024.

Founded in 1961, the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) is a non-profit, membership-based organization dedicated to bridging the gap between academic marketing theory and business practice. MSI is unique as the only research-based organization with an expansive network of practically-minded marketing academics from the best business schools all over the world as well as thoughtful practitioners from over seventy leading companies.

Prof. Duke is also a research fellow in the Behavioural Economics in Action at Rotman (BEAR) center. Her research investigates how consumers make decisions and experience the outcomes of those decisions—particularly when they involve risk, uncertainty, or complex emotions. Her work explores the impact of choice structures and framing of information on choice and welfare. She has a secondary interest in the psychology of technology.
