Session Summary: We will present an overview of value-based procurement, followed by a presentation by senior leadership from Plexxus on their recent initiatives in this area, including successes and lessons learned.

About Our Speakers:

Maggie Chen, Senior Project Analyst, Plexxus

Maggie has extensive experience in leading and coordinating projects in health care. Her expertise lies in value-based procurement, health quality indicator development and reporting, and project management. Her most recent role is a senior analyst of Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at Plexxus, where she supports hospitals to modernize their procurement approaches to drive greater value. Previously, she worked at the Cancer Care Ontario and Health Quality Ontario and focused on improving the delivery of value-based care by combining knowledge in data analytics with abilities to think strategically and creatively. Maggie has a Bachelor of Science from Queen’s University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Toronto.

Andrea Englert-Rygus is the Chief Procurement Officer and Vice President, Customer Relationship Management at Plexxus.

Plexxus provides expertise across the healthcare supply chain to the Ontario hospitals it serves. Andrea’s portfolio includes Strategic Sourcing, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and Customer Relationship Management. Andrea’s career has included roles in finance, sales, customer service, human resources, labour relations, operations and manufacturing across the chemical, retail and healthcare sectors. Andrea has a track record of implementing complex change and transformation projects. Prior to joining Plexxus, Andrea was Vice President Operations at Baxter Healthcare leading their Canadian supply chain operations. In addition, she has held leadership positions at YUM Brands (formerly PepsiCo Restaurants Inc.) and DuPont Canada.

Andrea holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto (Rotman) and, holds a Supply Chain Management Professional designation (CSCMP). In 2019, Andrea was named one of the “100 Influential Women in Supply Chain in Canada”.

Andrea is currently a Board Director of the Supply Chain Canada Association and of the Surrey Place Centre in Toronto.

David Yundt is President and CEO of Plexxus, and has led the organization since it began operating in 2006. During his career, David has developed and implemented innovative business solutions in a variety of industries that include shared services, health care, consumer products, third party logistics, distribution and pharmaceuticals. David sits on several boards, and is a graduate from Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, and the Rotman School of Management Directors Education Program.
