Why did you decide to study the Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting program?
After deciding to pursue a CPA designation, I reflected on the available options to achieve this goal. The Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting program allowed me to fully focus on my studies prior to starting work full-time. I felt that this option would allow me to succeed as I could reduce my workload in the fall and ensure I have sufficient time in the summer dedicated to learning the necessary content.
What are your main reasons for choosing Rotman?
I selected Rotman as many of my friends participated in the program in previous years and had a fantastic experience. Additionally, Rotman is a top rated business school in Canada and is located in a great city where I wanted to spend my summer!
What are you looking forward to most in the program?
Prior to beginning the program, I was looking forward to learning from excellent professors and having many opportunities to learn. I was also excited to expand my network as I met many peers from across the country who are also pursuing their designation.
What is the highlight of the Rotman experience?
The highlight of my Rotman experience was the many opportunities to get feedback. I went from never writing a case before to feeling comfortable with the task. Each week we were given many chances to write cases and learn from our mistakes which was extremely valuable.
What would you say to someone considering choosing the GdipPA?
If you are on the fence about whether you should select the Gdipa, I would say to go for it! It was a great decision and I feel very prepared for next summer!
