June 21, 2022

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Milt Harris Library will be closing at 5pm this week.

 

March 31, 2022

Our summer hours have been posted. They are as follows: 

Summer 2022

May- June
Monday - Thursday: 11-7
Friday 11-5
Weekends: Closed. 

July
Monday - Thursday: 11-7
Friday 11-4:30
Weekends: Closed. 

August 

Monday - Friday 11-4:30. 
Weekends: Closed. 
Holiday closures during the summer term: Monday, May 23, 2022; Thursday, June 30, 2022; Friday, July 1, 2022; Friday, July 29, 2022; Monday, August 1, 2022. 

Research consultations can be booked between 9-4. 

February 4, 2022

We are reopening on Monday, February 7th. The Rotman building remains open to fob holders only. 

Our hours will be Monday - Thursday from 11:00- 7:00; Friday from 11:00- 5:00. 

Library Policies

Masks must be worn at all times. 

There will be hand sanitizer available just outside the library for you to use before entering as well as hand sanitizer in various places in the library. 

No food or drink allowed in the library.

Only 5 patrons are allowed in the library at a time. 

Computer use: When finished using a computer, use the supplied wipe to wipe down the keyboard and mouse. Computers are for research use only and researchers using SDC will be given priority on that terminal. 

Do not move study space chairs. They are appropriately distanced. If you need to use a computer terminal that does not have a chair, please speak to a staff member. 

If you are not a Rotman student but need a book from our library, please email us at bicstaff@rotman.utoronto.ca. You can return the book to Robarts unless otherwise instructed. 

All research appointments remain virtual. We are not doing research consultations in person due to space capacity. 

 

January 20, 2022

The library will reopen (to Rotman fob holders only) on Monday, February 7th. We will be open from 11 AM - 7 PM, Monday - Thursday, and 11-5 PM on Fridays. Research appointments remain virtual, and curbside book pickup will be available. 

January 4, 2022

Happy New Year! The MHL will remain closed. Books can be requested, however, a staff member will be going in once a week only to process requests. 

Faculty, if you have any links you would like checked for our syllabus service, please send them in as soon as possible. This is for Rotman graduate programs only; undergraduate need to contact Robarts for assistance: https://www.rotman.utoronto.ca/FacultyAndResearch/BIC/Services-for-Faculty

Students, if you have a research request, we're happy to assist via e-mail or virtual consultation. Consults are available between 9-4:30, Monday - Friday. 

December 15, 2021

The deadline to request a book to borrow from the MHL collection is Tuesday, December 21 at 12 PM. The library is closed from December 22 - January 2, 2022. 

In January, the MHL will remain closed and continue virtual services and curbside book pickup. You can return books to Robarts book drop as well.

November 3, 2021

If you have booked a computer terminal for research:

Please use the hand sanitizer provided

When you are finished, used the wipe provided to clean off your keyboard and mouse. These wipes are purchased specifically for the computer terminals as they will not damage the keyboards. If you would like gloves, ask at the reference desk. The garbage is outside of the library, across from the elevator. 

October 7, 2021

If you have a book due back to the MHL, please return it to the Robarts book drop. 

The exception is for course reserves that are three hour loans - staff will make arrangements for the return with you when you borrow them. Only Rotman graduate students with fobs can borrow course reserves at this time.

Please note these plans are subject to change and updates will be posted on this page. As of September 7, 2021, the MHL services will be available as outlined below. 

The Rotman building will be fob access only in September, therefore only Rotman graduate students, staff and faculty will have access. During this time, the MHL will remain closed and will not be available as a study space; the majority of our services will be available virtually.

Fob holders may book appointments for the following:

  1. Borrowing books, including course reserves
  2. Using the photocopier, printer, or scanner
  3. Using SDC/Venture Capital

Our computers will not be available for any use outside of the above-mentioned software or printing. No browsing, e-mail, or other research. Bloomberg is not available; contact the Finance Lab for virtual access. 

You must send an appointment request at least 3 hours in advance.  They are available between 9:00- 5:00 (last appointment time at 4:30, closure time at 5), Monday – Friday. Contact bicstaff@rotman.utoronto.ca for an appointment. 

If you are a Rotman Commerce student or a U of T student in another program and need to borrow material, please e-mail us and we will make arrangements (similar to curbside pickup, details TBD).  A reminder to faculty that course reserves for Rotman Commerce should be at Robarts library.

If you would like to book a research appointment with a librarian, please contact Holly Inglis or Sean Forbes. Include your research topic, where you have searched, preferred meeting times, and if you prefer to meet via Teams or Zoom.

Safety measures:

Plexi glass will be installed around the reference desk to help with distancing; there are capacity limits that will be adhered to during appointment times. The seating in the library area is blocked off and can not be used.
